This research was motivated by the lack of technology use in learning. Students frequently use smartphones to play games and access social media during class hours, resulting in low motivation and learning outcomes. Lecture-dominated teaching methods with little media variation also contribute to their boredom. This study aims to explore the effect of the application of the inquiry-based learning model on student motivation and learning outcomes in the fundamentals of visual communication design subject in grade XI Visual Communication Design at SMK Negeri 5 Bungo.
This study used a quantitative approach with an experimental method to measure the application of the inquiry-based learning model on student motivation and learning outcomes. The sample consisted of 14 grade XI Visual Communication Design students at SMK Negeri 5 Bungo.
These results are supported by a paired sample t-test, which shows a significant value of 0.00 <0.05, with Thitung = 6008, which is greater than Ttabel = 2,160. It can be concluded that the hypothesis Ha is accepted: there is a significant influence on learning outcomes in the subject of visual communication design fundamentals at SMK Negeri 5 Bungo.
