Publication Ethics
Luminance: English Language & Literary Inquiry (LUMEN) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This ethical policy applies to all parties involved in the publishing process, including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher, and is intended to ensure transparency, credibility, and trust in scholarly communication.
1. Authors’ Responsibilities
- Ensure that the manuscript is original, free from plagiarism, and has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere.
- Present research data and findings accurately, honestly, and transparently, in accordance with accepted scientific and educational methodologies.
- Properly acknowledge all individuals, institutions, or sources that contributed significantly to the manuscript.
- Disclose any sources of financial, institutional, or other forms of support related to the research.
- Promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article if significant errors or inaccuracies are discovered after publication.
2. Reviewers’ Responsibilities
- Evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and professionally, without personal bias or conflicts of interest.
- Provide constructive, clear, and evidence-based feedback to assist authors in improving the quality of their work.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of the manuscript and not use its content for personal or professional advantage.
- Complete the review process within the agreed timeframe and promptly inform the editor of any delays.
3. Editors’ Responsibilities
- Make publication decisions based solely on academic merit, originality, relevance, and alignment with the journal’s focus and scope.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and uphold the integrity of the double-blind peer-review process.
- Identify, disclose, and manage potential conflicts of interest responsibly and transparently.
- Take appropriate and timely action when ethical concerns arise, including cases of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or other research misconduct.
4. Publisher’s Responsibilities
- Ensure editorial independence and protect the integrity of the scholarly publishing process from commercial or institutional influence.
- Support the dissemination of scholarly work through an open-access publishing policy.
- Provide transparent and effective mechanisms for addressing allegations or suspected breaches of publication ethics.
